The top is fruit and zest. Passionfruit is tart, tropical and slightly sulphurous in the best way, with a juicy, almost cat-like sharpness. Bitter orange is peel-driven, bitter and slightly floral, and lemon adds clean sourness. Three bright materials in a row make an opening that is acid and sweet at once, with passionfruit the one that gives it a tropical turn.
Solar notes is an accord, a perfumer's way of suggesting sun-warmed skin, with a salty, faintly sweet and slightly creamy quality. Frangipani is the tropical flower also called plumeria: creamy, waxy and a little coconut-like, with a peachy edge. These two keep the heart warm and soft, and they bridge the sharp fruit above and the resin below without adding much weight of their own.
Madagascar vanilla, benzoin and labdanum form the base. The vanilla is the creamy, rounded kind. Benzoin is a balsam with a vanillic, powdery warmth, and labdanum is the sticky, leathery, ambery resin of the rockrose shrub. Together they make a dense, sweet-resinous finish. The guide's own sorting, citrus and oriental, reflects the top and the base, and leaves the middle to the flower.
Only Ever reads as a soft and flowery scent, filed here under floral.
