Four fresh materials make the top of Bujairami Hooked. Lemon is the sharpest of them, sour and zesty. Bergamot is softer and more floral, with a bitter edge. Blackcurrant adds a tart, green fruitiness with a slightly sulphurous bite, and pear is watery and grainy-sweet. The citrus keeps the fruit from turning syrupy, and the fruit gives the citrus some body.
Geranium and cardamom make a short heart. Geranium is a green, slightly minty, rose-like leaf note, often used to give a floral heart a herbal backbone. Cardamom is a pod spice, cool, camphor-like and sweet, with a citrus streak that suits the lemon above it. Neither is a heavy middle, and they work as a bridge: the leaf-and-spice pair carries the top down into the wood.
The base holds four entries. Sandalwood is smooth and milky, cedar is dry and pencil-like, and vanilla is the sweet note. Gourmand is not a material but a family label, so here it signals that the base is meant to be edible-smelling, without telling us what the sweet thing is.
