What does Bujairami Obsidian smell like?
The top of Bujairami Obsidian is green and herbal. Bergamot gives a bitter citrus brightness. Rosemary is camphorous and piney, a kitchen herb with a medicinal edge. Violet leaves are not the flower: the leaf extract smells of cut stems and cucumber, watery and slightly metallic. Together they make a cool, sharp opening.
Six notes crowd the heart, and four of them are resins or resin accords. Frankincense is the lemony, peppery smoke of church incense. Myrrh is its bitter, medicinal companion, darker and more earthy. Cistus is the rockrose shrub whose sticky gum, labdanum, smells leathery and ambery. Amber is the warm accord perfumers build from such gums and vanilla, and vanilla is listed in its own right too. In the middle of all that stands iris, the powdery, cool, root-like note made from orris. Iris against incense is a contrast of dry powder and smoke.
The base adds weight. Leather is smoky and animalic. Agarwood smoke points to oud in its burnt form, chips smouldering on charcoal more than the distilled oil. Patchouli is earthy, sandalwood creamy, cedar dry. Nothing in the bottom tier is light, so the pyramid darkens steadily, from herbs to powder and resin to smoke and wood, which suits a scent named after black volcanic glass.

How Obsidian compares with similar scents
Six of the nine notes of Bujairami Boss Life can be found in Bujairami Obsidian: bergamot, amber, leather, patchouli, cedar and oud, which Obsidian phrases as agarwood smoke. Boss Life has tobacco, lemon and spices for its remaining notes. Obsidian has a great deal more in its middle, with iris and three resins that Boss Life lacks.
Bujairami Boss Life Extreme has a list even longer than that of Bujairami Obsidian, twenty-six lines to fourteen. Both include bergamot, incense, amber, vanilla, patchouli and agarwood, and both use cistus material: Obsidian names the shrub, Boss Life Extreme its gum, labdanum. Iris, rosemary, violet leaves, myrrh and leather are on Obsidian's side only.
Three notes tie Bujairami Obsidian to Bujairami Sacred Order: amber, leather and oud. Sacred Order is a seven-note extrait that gets its colour from berries, saffron and rose, with tonka bean for sweetness. Obsidian uses none of those and takes its character from herbs, iris and incense resins instead.
