What does Bujairami Gem smell like?
Geranium and violet are the two flowers on the list, and neither is a big white bloom. Geranium oil comes from the leaves of the plant and smells rosy and green with a minty coolness; perfumers use it where they want a rose effect with less sweetness. Violet is the powdery one, soft and slightly sugared, like old-fashioned pastilles. Between them, Bujairami Gem gets the outline of a rose without rose being listed.
Bergamot and pink pepper are there to open the scent: a bitter-fresh citrus and a bright, rosy berry with a dry tingle. Both sit well with geranium, which has a lemony side of its own.
What gives the floral part its footing is the darker half of the list. Amber, placed in the heart here and not in the base, is a warm, resinous accord. Patchouli is earthy and damp. Oud, the resin-soaked heartwood of the agar tree, is the deepest note: woody, leathery, a little animal. Musk and vanilla soften that base. Four of the nine entries are warm or dark, amber, patchouli, oud and vanilla, and they are why Gem is filed here as oriental as well as floral.

Who Gem suits
The tag on Bujairami Gem is for him and for her. Floral and oriental are the two families this guide derives from the notes, and they are our reading, not a label from the brand. It is an extrait de parfum. The note list is tidy, three notes on each of three tiers, all of them specific materials.

Five notes link Bujairami Gem and Bujairami Downtown: violet, amber, oud, musk and vanilla. Downtown puts its oud wood on top with cypress and adds raspberry, lily-of-the-valley and leather. Gem keeps oud in the base and frames the violet with bergamot, pink pepper, geranium and patchouli. Downtown is an eau de parfum; Gem is an extrait.
Bujairami Bossman and Bujairami Gem agree on bergamot at the top and patchouli in the heart, and both list amber and vanilla. Where they differ is the character between those points. Bossman lists pineapple and berries, so fruit. Gem lists geranium and violet, so flowers, and it adds pink pepper, oud and musk, none of which are in the shorter Bossman list.
The overlap with Bujairami Emperor is four notes: bergamot, amber, patchouli and vanilla. Emperor is an eau de parfum with pineapple beside the bergamot and berries alone in the heart. Bujairami Gem, an extrait, has no fruit beyond the citrus; its heart is led by violet, and its base carries oud and musk in addition.
