The top is a citrus with a musk. Calabrian bergamot comes from the southern Italian region where the fruit is grown for perfumery, and it is treated as a benchmark: bitter, floral and tea-like at once. Musk at the top is unusual, since it is soft and tends to hold on; here it gives the bergamot a skin-like floor rather than a thin start.
