What does Bujairami Dilemma smell like?
Fruit comes first in Bujairami Dilemma, and it is a gentle kind. Pear gives a watery, lightly sugared juiciness. Tangerine is a sweet citrus from the mandarin family, softer than orange and with little bitterness. Bergamot supplies the bitterness the other two lack, along with a faint floral tone that points ahead to the heart.
That heart is built almost wholly from the orange tree and from jasmine. Orange blossom and neroli come from the same flower of the bitter orange: orange blossom, as a note, is the fuller, sweeter, honeyed reading, while neroli, the steam-distilled oil, is greener, fresher and slightly bitter. Listing both gives the flower two faces at once. Jasmine sambac is the jasmine used for scenting tea, fruitier and greener than the classic kind, with a mild animal warmth. Three white-floral notes and nothing else in the middle make this the centre of the scent on paper.
Under the flowers lies a base that this guide counts as oriental. Bourbon vanilla is vanilla from Madagascar and the neighbouring islands; the name goes back to Réunion, once called Île Bourbon, and stands for a round, creamy, slightly boozy vanilla. Benzoin, a tree resin, has a vanilla-like sweetness of its own with a touch of incense, so it thickens the vanilla. Amber is a warm resinous accord and white musk a clean, cottony one. Sweet resin below, bright blossom above: the list moves from fresh to warm in three clear steps.
Who wears Dilemma
For her is the tag the brand gives Bujairami Dilemma. From the notes this guide sorts it into three families, floral, citrus and oriental, and that sorting is the guide's own. The type is extrait de parfum. As a list it is a tidy three-tier pyramid of ten notes in which every name is a recognisable material, three of them from the same white-flower group and four of them warm base notes.
What style is Bujairami Dilemma?
Judged by its notes alone, Dilemma is a warm and rich oriental scent.
Amber, benzoin and bergamot carry most of the list.
Within the Bujairami range, Bujairami Executor comes closest, with bergamot in common.
Next: Bujairami Red Eclipse.
This is the guide's own wording of the family and notes, not a test.

Dilemma and its closest neighbours
Six notes link Bujairami Dilemma to Bujairami Executor: pear, bergamot, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla and musk. Executor's Arabian jasmine is the common name of the sambac species Dilemma lists. The bases differ. Executor uses amberwood, sandalwood and ambrofix, dry and woody materials, where Dilemma has amber and benzoin, resinous and sweet, and Dilemma adds tangerine and neroli higher up.
With Bujairami Red Eclipse, Bujairami Dilemma has orange blossom, jasmine, amber and vanilla in common, plus a mandarin-type citrus on top (tangerine in one, mandarin orange in the other). Red Eclipse opens with raspberry, adds freesia and rests on akigalawood, a woody note derived from patchouli. Dilemma has pear, neroli, benzoin and white musk. Of the two, Red Eclipse is the eau de parfum.
Bujairami Shinko names five notes, and four of them are in Bujairami Dilemma too: bergamot, jasmine, amber and musk. The fifth is spices, which Dilemma does not list. What Dilemma has and Shinko lacks is the fruit, the orange blossom and neroli, and the vanilla and benzoin. Shinko is the sparer list and an eau de parfum.
