What does Bujairami Velvash smell like?
Four unlike materials open Bujairami Velvash. Osmanthus is a small Asian blossom famous for smelling of apricot and soft suede at once. Ginger is peppery and lemony. Citrus, unspecified, brings zest. Artemisia is the wormwood genus: silvery, bitter, herbal, with a dry green sharpness. Fruit-and-suede flower, spice, peel and bitter herb is an unusual top, more aromatic than sweet.
The heart is the dense part. Tobacco in perfumery means the cured leaf: sweet, hay-like, a little honeyed, with a dry, leathery warmth. Patchouli adds earth and a faint cocoa tone. Guaiac wood, from a South American tree, is smoky and slightly tarry with a rosy sweetness, and vetiver is dry, rooty and grassy. Three woody, earthy materials around one leaf: the tier is dark, dry and smoky.
Only tonka bean is named for the base. Tonka smells of almond, vanilla and fresh hay, and its natural partner is tobacco, because both have a sweet, coumarin-like warmth. On this list it is the one sweet thing, which leaves the overall picture dry and woody, with osmanthus as the soft, fruity exception at the top. Woody is accordingly the one family this guide assigns.

Velvash compared with three similar Bujairami scents
Next to Bujairami Velvash, Bujairami Tigris is a simple list: citrus fruits and spices, vetiver and musk, amber and patchouli. Citrus, vetiver and patchouli match. Ginger could pass for one of the spices. But tobacco, guaiac wood, osmanthus and artemisia have no counterpart, and Tigris ends on amber where Velvash ends on tonka bean.
Bujairami Wild Side is the extrait among two near-matching lists, with musk and vetiver in the heart and amber and patchouli in the base. Its vetiver, patchouli and citrus fruits are the points of contact with Bujairami Velvash. Velvash is drier and smokier on paper because of tobacco and guaiac wood, and it lists no musk or amber.
In Bujairami Gas, patchouli and vetiver are base notes; in Bujairami Velvash they sit in the heart with tobacco. Both lists start with citrus, and Gas names bergamot as well. The rest diverges: Gas has spices, amber and musk, Velvash has osmanthus, artemisia, guaiac wood and tonka bean. Both are extraits.
