Bujairami Tonka Skin opens with almond, which in perfume means the smell of bitter almond and marzipan more than of the nut itself. “Spices” is listed without detail, so it indicates warmth and a little bite, nothing more exact. The heart is the namesake. Tonka beans are the wrinkled black seeds of a South American tree, and they are rich in coumarin, a substance that smells of almond, fresh hay and vanilla at once. Tobacco is listed beside it, and cured tobacco leaf has much the same hay-and-honey sweetness, drier and darker.
