Two notes make the opening of Bujairami Imperial Rose: aldehydes, which add a clean, sparkling, soapy lift, and bergamot, the bitter citrus peel. After that comes the heart, which holds nine entries, the longest tier in this part of the guide. Carnation smells of clove and pepper with a floral sweetness. Gardenia is creamy, green and slightly mushroom-like. Frangipani and ylang-ylang are tropical, rich and almost custardy, with ylang edging toward banana.
Violet is powdery and green. Jasmine is the classic white flower, sweet and a little animalic. Orange blossom is honeyed and green. Rose is the namesake, and geranium, a leafy, minty, rosy leaf, supports it from the side. The base is short by comparison. Clove is warm, dry and numbing, the same spice that carnation hints at. Vanilla rounds the sweetness, green notes keep a leafy thread running, musk softens, and cedar dries the finish. That is why the rose does not end up sugary.
