Notes in Daddy Issues

Notes as the shop lists them in the product description.

What does Bujairami Daddy Issues smell like?

Fig is a material with several faces, and the name covers all of them: the green, milky smell of the leaf and stem, and the soft, seedy sweetness of the fruit. Perfumers usually lean on the leaf side, which reads as green and faintly coconut-like. Water lily adds a transparent, aquatic floral freshness with almost no weight, and blackcurrant brings a tart, slightly sulphurous berry brightness. Together the opening is green, juicy and cool.

Iris and orris root deserve a paragraph of their own, because they come from the same plant. Orris is the dried, aged rhizome of the iris; its extract is powdery and cool, a little like violet, suede and lipstick. Listing both means the heart is built on that powdery, earthy core. Jasmine lies across it as a rich, heady white flower, warm and slightly animal, adding sweetness and body.

Four materials hold the base. Musk is soft and skin-like, sandalwood creamy and woody, and Madagascar vanilla dark, sweet and a little smoky. Patchouli leaf is the earthy, damp-green, camphorous material taken from the leaves of the plant that gives patchouli oil. The path runs from a green fruit-and-leaf opening, through a powdery floral heart, to a creamy vanilla-and-wood close. This guide files it under floral and woody; the green top and the vanilla are what those two labels leave out.

How Daddy Issues differs from its neighbours in the range

Bujairami Miss Vanilla

Miss Vanilla overlaps with Daddy Issues on jasmine and musk. The split: fig, lily, blackcurrant and iris here, vanilla orchid, brown sugar, tonka bean and amber there. Daddy Issues is an eau de parfum, Miss Vanilla an extrait de parfum.

Bujairami Executor

Jasmine, musk, sandalwood and vanilla appear in both Bujairami Daddy Issues and Bujairami Executor. Executor is an extrait with pear and bergamot on top, orange blossom beside the jasmine and amberwood in the base. Daddy Issues has no citrus at all; its freshness comes from fig, water lily and blackcurrant, and its heart carries iris and orris root.

Bujairami Chubby

Musk, sandalwood and vanilla are the shared part of Bujairami Daddy Issues and Bujairami Chubby. The rest differs. Chubby starts on caramel and puts tonka bean beside the musk, a plainly sweet line, while Daddy Issues has fig, blackcurrant, iris and jasmine in front of the same base. Chubby is an extrait; Daddy Issues is an eau de parfum.

Who is Bujairami Daddy Issues for, and when?

The brand's tag reads for him and for her. This guide's own sorting of the notes gives two families, floral and woody: the floral from iris, orris root and jasmine, the wood from sandalwood and patchouli leaf. It is an eau de parfum in 100 ml. The list is a full one, ten named materials spread over three tiers, with nothing left vague.
