What does Bujairami Alpha smell like?
Calabrian bergamot is the bergamot orange grown in Calabria, the southern Italian region that is the main source of bergamot oil. It has a sparkling, slightly green bitterness. Grapefruit adds a sharper, tangy edge, and water notes a clean, mineral and aquatic air. Fig leaf is green, milky and faintly coconut-like, which makes the opening feel dry and fresh rather than sweet.
The heart turns woody and dark. Ambroxan, a modern ambergris-type molecule, gives a dry, mineral and slightly salty warmth. Patchouli adds earthy, dark-green depth, black pepper a dry and woody spice, and violet leaf a green, faintly metallic floral tone. Papyrus is a perfumery name for a dry, woody and slightly smoky material, and the list gives it no more detail.
The base is resinous and soft. Incense brings a smoky, resinous dryness, musk a clean, skin-like veil, and tonka bean a sweet, hay-like warmth that closes the scent. Compared with the bright top, the base is much quieter.

How Alpha compares with similar scents
Alpha and Bujairami Pretty Green share bergamot, incense, musk and tonka bean. Pretty Green opens on bergamot, peach and pink pepper, carries green rosebud, jasmine and raspberry sorbet in the heart, and rests on white musk, incense and tonka bean. Alpha has grapefruit, water notes and fig leaf at the top and a dark, woody heart of patchouli, ambroxan and papyrus, where Pretty Green is floral and fruity.
Alpha and Bujairami Shockwave share bergamot, grapefruit and patchouli. Shockwave has a long citrus top of lemon, blood orange, grapefruit, lime, Sicilian bergamot and mandarin, a pink pepper and white amber heart with blackcurrant, and a base of oakmoss, musk and patchouli. Alpha's top is shorter, with water notes and fig leaf, and its heart is patchouli and ambroxan with violet leaf and papyrus, rather than amber and blackcurrant.
Alpha and Bujairami Royal Paradise share bergamot, patchouli and musk. Royal Paradise opens on lemon, bergamot, cypriol and patchouli, has a single mate note in the heart, and closes on cedar and musk. Alpha has no lemon, cypriol or cedar. Its heart is the busier of the two, with ambroxan, black pepper, violet leaf and papyrus, while Royal Paradise has one note there.
